Ugly Betty
I have been re-watching seasons of Ugly Betty (Shame it ended-SO funny!) and I think in terms of styling, it marginally beats Sex and the City series (NOT the films) but was on par with Gossip Girl. Controversial i know, but every TIME I see ‘Wilhemina Slater’ played by Vanessa Williams march down the corridor at Mode, my eyes widen.
The mesh of styles, the choice of colours, fabrics, designers…so BEAUTIFUL. Even the men look immaculate. In fact, if I were a man, Mark would actually be my style icon! Patricia Field who famously styled Sex and City cast, is responsible for the drop dead Gorgeous ensembles in Ugly Betty. Yes, I know this is ‘not new news’, I just MISS UGLY BETTY AND THE CLOTHES!!!!!
What do u think?

Here is a look from Nicole Scherzinger whilst down under last week. <3 I recreated it by using all items available on the British high Street RIGHT this second!
Warehouse: Sketched print Maxi £25.00 (on sale)
River Island: Cream oval cardigan £45.00
New look: Grey Boyfriend drape pocket cardigan £11.99
Topshop: Suede fringed crossbody bag £18.00
Asos: fix leather perforated flat sandal £45.00
Miss Selfridge: mirrored aviator sunglasses £10.00
And there we have it…hope you like it x
Based on the previous post, I <3 how these women look. Decided to see if there are similar items on the British high street for a fraction of the price, but hopefully achieving a similar (elegant) look. What do you think?
Tika Sumpter’s items:
River Island: Floral printed bandeau dress £29.99
asos.com: Floppy 70s felt hat £22.00 now £20.00
asos.com: Metal Keeper Patent Super Skinny Waist Belt £6.00
tkmaxx.com: Carvela nude patent shoes £40.00
Selita Ebanks’ items:
Dorothy Perkins: floral peterpan tunic £30.00 now £20.00
Dorothy Perkins: black/white spot pencil skirt £38.00
Dorothy Perkins: Nude patent platform shoes £30.00
So here we have it. Let me know what you think of the matches. I must say the floral print dresses this season from Ax Paris.co.uk; Dorothy Perkins and Oasis-stores.com are so beautiful and priceworthy!!! :-)
So I thought I’d try to demonstrate how good stores off the British high street are as you can dress with a designer look for much less.
I’ve started with SJP and Elle Macpherson for obvious reasons (Check girl crush post!) to show how we can take inspiration from them.
SJP wore this ensemble in 2008 SATC Ost. and Elle Macpherson just a few days ago on an evening out in London.
Items for SJP:
dorothyperkins.co.uk :Green poppy print dress £38.00
topshop.com: Black snake elastic corset belt £14.00
Asos.com: Partytime peep toe platform shoes £45.00 now £36.00
newlook.co.uk: Glitzy Flower Heart Box Clutch £14.99
Items for Elle:
topshop.com: spike waterfall drop earrings £10.00
topshop.com: scallop vest in black £15.00 (my fav- i have 3 in diff colours!)
warehouse.co.uk: drape pocket jacket £65.00
warehouse.co.uk: abstract tribal trousers £45.00 now £20.00
accessorize.com: new metal hard case shell clutch bag £32.00
missselfridge.co.uk: circle disc chain belt £14.00
debenhams.co.uk: kurt geiger ‘lychee’ flat shoes in ‘champagne’ £50.00
So there’s all the info! I really <3 both hard case bags, the poppy dress and bizarrely the abstract print trousers. Have not yet decided whether I should go for them, but as i’m a sucker for sales and bargains, i’ll see.

Time to style!
Last night, whilst on Facebook (Still my favourite social networking site) an advert on the sidebar caught my eye. ‘Stylistpick.com’ .
Of course I am no way affiliated with the site, but I thought I’d give it a mention.
It works by answering a series of pictorial questions about your style, then it generates a result for the six stylists to go away and suggest pairs of shoes every month that will suit you and of which you can buy off the site for £40. I was determined ‘elegant’ (or sth..it was 2am) so I have 6 pairs of shoes in my showroom. Admittedly, the choices are great. 3 of the 6 are pairs I love and would genuinely be attracted to. What stops me is the fact they are not leather (sorry Vegans) and I could get similar for the same price in leather from a few other selective stores.
Still it’s an interesting idea and who knows…I may give them a chance.

If the link does not work…I’m sorry. Tried googling the shoes, but they do not even come up. So Secretive these stylists are!
